House fire kills 2 dogs on Hart Drive in Lee County

The North Fort Myers Fire Department responded to a house fire that killed two dogs on Hart Drive.

The fire was first reported at around 10:20 a.m. on Friday. Crews confirmed to WINK News that it was an electric fire caused by an air conditioning unit.

Several fire department agencies, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office and the Lee County Animal Control, responded to the scene.

No people were in the home at the time of the fire; however, three dogs were inside the building.

Two of the dogs had died from smoke inhalation. The third dog was revived through life-saving measures from animal control.

WINK News spoke with the North Fort Myers Fire Department public information officer at the scene, who emphasized the importance of leaving doors and windows closed.

“We want to push the message of closing the doors while you’re sleeping, closing the doors when you leave your house; it reduces that smoke inhalation and that smoke damage tremendously. So we just want to push that message out there to the public,” said Christi Fulton, NFMFD PIO.

The home did sustain some interior damage.

The Favicon for the website, dogsandpurses(dot)com, features an all-black background with a minimalist line drawing of a puppy's head poking out of a stylish purse. The puppy's head is drawn with a cute and friendly expression, making it the focal point of the design. The purse, which the puppy is emerging from, is depicted with clean, elegant lines. The contrast between the black background and the white line drawing creates a striking and modern look for the Favicon.
