Hot dogs recalled because of lack of inspection

CLEVELAND, Ohio – AW Farms is recalling about 6,900 pounds of hot-dog products produced without federal inspection, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service.

The Argillite, Kentucky, company produced the ready-to-eat hot dogs on various dates since approximately May 30, the FSIS said.

The items were shipped to restaurant and hotel locations in Ohio and West Virginia.

Products subject to recall are 10-pound boxes containing two 5-pound vacuum-packed packages:

• French City Foods 6, 12-1 hotdogs.

• Pork, Beef, Dextrose, Salt, Sugar Maple Geo Brown All Meat Hotdogs.

• Beef, Dextrose, Salt, Sugar Maple Geo Brown All Beef Hotdogs.

The recalled products bear EST. 47635 inside the USDA inspection mark and have a shelf life of 45 days.

There have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products. Restaurants and hotels are urged to throw away the products or return them to the place of purchase.
