Hot Dog Tucked Inside a Pack of Peeps? One Westport Shop Made It Happen

If I told you that marshmallow goes on hot dogs, would you believe me?

A few days ago, while casually doom-scrolling through Facebook, I stumbled across a post that stopped me dead in my tracks. It was a customer’s post on the Lexi’s Road Dogs page, a local hot dog haven on Route 6 in Westport, and it featured something… unconventional.

The post was from Andrew Smalls, who just so happens to be the proud dad of Lexi Williams, the woman behind the business. His caption read:

“Went to Lexi’s Road Dogs and got the Easter dog special. Want to show my peeps.”

What an Odd Thing to Post on Facebook

Attached was a photo of a hot dog cozied up between two neon-yellow Peeps, topped off with a squiggle of mustard. My first thought? That’s nasty. My second? Who in their right mind puts mustard on marshmallows?

Thankfully, It Was All in Good Fun

There is no “Easter Dog Special” on Lexi’s board (yet), but my curiosity was piqued. I had to know: could this sweet and savory Frankenstein frank actually work?

Armed with a fresh pack of Peeps, I strolled into Lexi’s and kindly asked if she could help bring this madness to life. She obliged, slicing the sugary chicks down the middle and nestling one of her signature dogs right in between.

The Result? Surprisingly Glorious

The Peeps melted into a gooey, golden shell around the hot dog, hugging it with sticky, sugary affection. It was a beautiful marriage of two unlikely lovers, like Romeo and Juliet if they met at a backyard BBQ.

The sugar danced on my tongue like a jazz ensemble in a candy store, and before you could say “Happy Easter,” that thing was history.

Now, to reiterate, this Peeps dog is not on the menu, but maybe it should be (hint hint). I’m giving it a solid 9.1 out of 10. Points were deducted only because it’s a bit of a mess – but what great love story isn’t?

If Peeps ever releases a hot dog bun-shaped marshmallow, I’m in trouble.

The Favicon for the website, dogsandpurses(dot)com, features an all-black background with a minimalist line drawing of a puppy's head poking out of a stylish purse. The puppy's head is drawn with a cute and friendly expression, making it the focal point of the design. The purse, which the puppy is emerging from, is depicted with clean, elegant lines. The contrast between the black background and the white line drawing creates a striking and modern look for the Favicon.
