Homeward Animal Shelter asking for help with finding dogs their forever homes

FARGO, N.D. (Valley News Live) – Being at full capacity in their kennel, and having a few dogs in comfortable crates in the hallway, Homeward Animal Shelter is looking for people to come find their forever pets.

In a Facebook post, the Shelter says that the number of phone calls and emails they get on a daily basis for people needing to rehome their dogs is about twice what they can hold in the shelter.

“There’s just not enough dogs getting adopted, there’s more people looking to rehome their dogs than there are people looking to adopt dogs, so we’re just in this situation where we can’t seem to win,” said Heather Clyde, Operations Director, Homeward Animal Shelter.

While the animal shelter says that cats are also available for adoption, dogs are the main issue right now. Homeward Animal Shelter primarily takes in dogs from the local pounds to not just give them a chance for their owners to reconnect with them, but to save their lives.

“If we weren’t pulling them from the pounds, they would be euthanized,” Clyde said. “Our job is to make sure that’s not happening, and in the F-M area, no adoptable dogs have been euthanized since 2009.

Throughout the week, Homeward Animal Shelter is expected to get around 10 dogs, but doesn’t have a place for them to go. For qualifications on being able to adopt, the shelter says there are very few of them.

“A fenced-in backyard is a big thing that people think we require; we don’t require that,” Clyde said. “The only time we would really require that is if we think the dog is a high-flight risk. Otherwise, we just want to make sure these dogs are going to good homes with people who can care for them.”

The Favicon for the website, dogsandpurses(dot)com, features an all-black background with a minimalist line drawing of a puppy's head poking out of a stylish purse. The puppy's head is drawn with a cute and friendly expression, making it the focal point of the design. The purse, which the puppy is emerging from, is depicted with clean, elegant lines. The contrast between the black background and the white line drawing creates a striking and modern look for the Favicon.
