Homes sought for accident victim’s three dogs

MAHOPACDiane Staab’s surviving three four-legged ‘children’ are in need of a home.

The 62-year-old resident of Mahopac was killed January 13 when her car was struck by an oncoming vehicle on Ball Pond Road in New Fairfield less than a half mile from the Putnam County line.

`Staab’s two Rottweilers, Saffron Star and Grace Bee, and a smaller Pomeranian are being cared for by friends on a temporary basis, but they need a permanent home.

Hudson Valley Rottie Rescue reported Monday that the two Rottweilers and the smaller dog are bonded. Saffron Star is eight years old, and Grace Bee is four years old. Both are spade. Pom could be separated if needed.

A spokesperson for the rescue organization said the “dogs were well loved and had the run of a large fenced-in yard. They are active and go for regular walks in a local park where they swim. They get along well with other dogs and people and enjoy playing with toys. We do not know how they would be with cats. Saffron Star is more reserved, but Grace Bee is very friendly. Once they know you, they are affectionate and will snuggle with you on the couch.”

Those interested in providing a permanent home for the ‘orphans’ must fill out an application and have references checked as well as a home visit.

The rescue spokesperson added, “These babies will need to go to someone who understands grief and does not have many other dogs. They are sad and missing their mom. A fenced yard would be a plus since they are used to running free outside.”

The Favicon for the website, dogsandpurses(dot)com, features an all-black background with a minimalist line drawing of a puppy's head poking out of a stylish purse. The puppy's head is drawn with a cute and friendly expression, making it the focal point of the design. The purse, which the puppy is emerging from, is depicted with clean, elegant lines. The contrast between the black background and the white line drawing creates a striking and modern look for the Favicon.
