JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Residents of Hillcrest are raising concerns and calling for accountability from a local liquor store owner whose two security dogs frequently escape into the neighborhood.
Several neighbors have filed a complaint with Animal Control about the German Shepherd and Belgian Malinois that are security dogs for the MBC Liquor Store on Cassat Avenue.

Shannan Foley and her wife Karla have previously corralled the dogs on two occasions and brought them back to the liquor store.
“This is now a repeat. It’s happening over and over again,” Karla Foley said.
“They’re a danger to cats and small dogs. We don’t know about small children,” Shannan Foley said.
Shannon Amerson accused the two dogs of killing her cat on her property.
“100% know it was the two dogs residing at the liquor store. We have pictures,” Amerson said.
Surveillance video captured last week from the same neighborhood shows what is believed to be the same two dogs going after another cat from a front porch.
Animal Control Chief Michael Bricker said his officers are investigating the incidents and trying to resolve the issue so the community can feel safe again.
“What we’re trying to do now is get the neighbors to fill out affidavits. Provide us video and be willing to testify that this is happening,” Bricker said. “We’ve tried to contact the owner of these dogs. We know who the owner is. We know where he lives. We went to his home and his work, and it’s been impossible to find him.”
Animal control said the dogs’ owner will likely face more than one citation and several fines.
