Henderson woman accused of burning dogs to death

HENDERSON, Texas (KLTV) – A Henderson woman has been arrested after deputies say a child called them and claimed his mother was burning the family dogs.

At about 1 p.m. on Saturday, Rusk County deputies say an 11-year-old boy called and said his mother told him she believed he “was the devil” and was in the middle of burning the family dogs.

While deputies were on their way to the 6100 block of Highway 64 in Henderson, and a second call came in at 1:04 p.m. from a neighbor who said a woman came to their home with blood on her hands claiming “her parents had been killed.”

Authorities arrived at 1:08 p.m. and found Veronica Loredo, 32, with four children between the ages of 1 and 11 in a vehicle. Deputies said they also found the remains of the dogs in a fire burning in front of the Loredo home.

Loredo was arrested and has been charged with two counts of cruelty to non-livestock animals and four counts of endangering a child. Her total bond has been set at $400,000.
