Apply to serve on boards and commissions

The city of Bloomington’s Office of the City Clerk and the Office of the Mayor are accepting applications from community members who would like to serve on one of the city’s boards or commissions. The city’s boards and commissions give residents the opportunity to provide input on the policies that shape their government and their city. Please note: City residency is required for membership on most of the boards and commissions. Visit tinyurl.com/blgtn-boards-commissions to find links to open positions and the online application. Applicants are urged to attend a meeting of the board or commission of their choosing prior to applying. All meetings of the city’s boards and commissions are free and open to the public. For more information, contact Jennifer Crossley, deputy clerk of communications and outreach, Office of the City Clerk, at clerk@bloomington.in.gov or 812-349-3408.

Afternoon dog walkers at animal shelter in Nashville

Volunteers 18 years and older are needed at the Brown County Humane Society to help walk the wonderful dogs at their shelter in Nashville. Enjoy the outdoors with a canine companion on the 3-acre property, complete with a barn, fenced-in play area and babbling brook. You might walk alone and help a shy dog gain confidence, or you could join a playgroup and teach the dogs to socialize properly. You’ll also meet other volunteers and animal lovers and get to know more about the shelter and its programs. Volunteers must commit to 3 hours minimum on the same day every week for at least 3 months. Volunteers will need to have transportation to get to the shelter, which is about 20 minutes from the east side of Bloomington. Volunteers must feel comfortable and physically capable of handling most dogs (breeds and sizes). Find out more and fill out their volunteer application at tinyurl.com/afternoon-dog-walkers. The Favicon for the website, dogsandpurses(dot)com, features an all-black background with a minimalist line drawing of a puppy's head poking out of a stylish purse. The puppy's head is drawn with a cute and friendly expression, making it the focal point of the design. The purse, which the puppy is emerging from, is depicted with clean, elegant lines. The contrast between the black background and the white line drawing creates a striking and modern look for the Favicon.
