Hearts melt at dog who just wants owner to hold her paw

A dog has captured hearts online for giving her owner the ultimate puppy eyes when he stopped paying her attention.

The pup, Kona (@kona.bean), a German shepherd, Alaskan Malamute, and corgi mix, gazed adoringly at her owner while they held paws. However, the moment he let go, she reacted with sadness, and now the clip has melted viewers’ hearts, receiving more than 126,000 likes and over 930,000 views on TikTok.

“She knows he’s about to let go,” the owner captioned the video, perfectly encapsulating Kona’s anticipation.

In the clip, the dog and her owner are cozied up on the couch, peacefully holding paws. The moment he pulls his hand away, Kona’s expression shifts to one of pure disappointment. She throws him her best puppy-dog eyes, pleading for more attention.

Kona’s persistence pays off as her dog dad continues to stroke her paw, but the pup still groans as soon as the affection ends, as if to demand more love.

Kona’s behavior is a classic example of “clingy dog behavior,” which can be seen when canines exhibit excessive attachment and seek constant attention from their owners. The experts at PetMD say that clingy dogs often feel anxious or insecure, leading them to crave physical touch as a form of comfort. It is a common trait in dogs who develop strong bonds with their humans.

German shepherds, one of Kona’s primary breeds, are particularly known for their loyalty and strong attachment to their owners. The Wagwalking website says that they are ranked among the top breeds that are extra-clingy, often seeking to be physically close to their owners at all times. Kona’s endearing need for physical contact is a hallmark of this behavior.

Another fascinating detail in Kona’s video is her tendency to rest her paw on her owner’s hand. This isn’t just a cute habit—dogs put their paws on humans as a way to bond and communicate. Reader’s Digest magazine says that when dogs place their paws on you, they are often seeking connection, reassurance, or simply saying: “I’m here with you.”

The adorable interaction between Kona and her owner had TikTok users gushing.

“It’s like ‘you don’t love me no more’,” one user commented.

Another, clearly enchanted by Kona’s skills, posted: “I’ve seen and had a lot of dogs, but I have never seen the puppy eyes executed SO perfectly.”

One viewer was charmed by the moment, adding: “The massaging of paws to have and to hold.”

A fellow dog owner could relate to Kona’s clinginess, saying: “My rottie [rottweiler] does that. All 110 pounds of strength will go in that paw and you can’t let go. She won’t let you.”

One commenter wrote: “Love language: physical touch.”
