The moment a dog refused a treat and offered it to her best friend instead was captured on film—instantly melting hearts on social media.
In a December 24 TikTok video posted by user @hungoverdelaney, two dogs sat in front of the woman with excitement in their eyes because they knew they were getting a treat. The woman grabbed one treat at a time and offered the first one to her canine, Nala. However, the Australian shepherd didn’t immediately grab the treat from her hand. Instead, she wanted to be a gracious host and show her “loyalty” to her best friend, Reilly.
The video’s text overlay reads: “No one knows loyalty like Nala refusing a treat until she makes sure her bff gets one first.”
Nala sniffed the treat and then turned to Reilly, a springer spaniel, who was sitting beside her. Her eyes glanced from the treat to her bestie, and she used her snoot to point to Reilly. It was her way of signaling to the owner that she wanted to gift the first treat to her BFF.
Picking up on the hint, the owner placed the treat in front of Reilly, who is her friend’s dog. Reilly then slowly and graciously accepted it. Nala didn’t protest, but rather, she watched with pride. She was looking out for her friend.
Nala then sat and waited patiently for her turn. She also took the treat carefully and the two best friends enjoyed the special moment together with no barking or arguing.
Nala’s selfless act is a strong indication that the two are truly best friends. A November article from Dogster reported that dogs who share their favorite toys, water bowls or treats with a particular canine signify a strong bond had formed.

TikTok Users React
The precious TikTok video has so far amassed nearly 400,000 views and over 62,400 likes. Impressed with Nala’s ability to show she wanted to share, TikTok users fell head over heels for her kindness.
“Now that is a bestie!” one user wrote.
Another jokingly asked: “Is it loyalty or is she making sure it’s not poison?” The owner then responded and said she was making sure no medicine was hidden in the treat.
A third user commented: “And some people say ‘Dogs don’t talk’ …Look at her eyes and the movement of her nose pointing her friend while refusing the treat. This is nonverbal communication! She’s PERFECT!!!”
