A rescue dog determined to make friends with everyone in the neighborhood has melted hearts across the internet.
Sami Arrieta, 20, lives in Florida, and, for the past two months, has acted as foster carer for an incredibly social and friendly rescue hound mix, Pine.
Pine arrived into her care from local rescue Champs Chance, and she told Newsweek the “very social” pup has been “such a blessing the past two months that I have had him.”
“He will sit by our window and wait for any neighborhood dogs to walk by so that he can ask them to play,” Arrieta said—and once Sami has asked the owners’ permission, “he happily runs over and becomes best friends with any dog he meets.”
One of these moments was caught on camera and shared to Arrieta’s TikTok account, @samii.arrietaa in May, which has racked up over 2.1 million views and more than 539,000 likes.
In the clip, Pine tries to push his way through the open front door as Arrieta holds him back, shouting to a person outside: “Excuse me, is your dog friendly with other dogs? Can my dog come play with yours?”

Arrieta gets the answer she was hoping for, and opens the door wide enough for Pine to go outside—and, within seconds, he has bolted to the greenery where another dog was playing with its owner, and the two pups have begun playing together.
“Pine’s favorite days are the ones when our neighborhood dogs stop to have a play date with him,” Arrieta wrote over the video, and added in a caption: “Pine has so many besties in the neighborhood and will not leave the window until I ask their owners if they are allowed to play together.”
And, Arrieta told Newsweek, Pine and his new neighborhood dog friend, Draco, are due to have many more playdates in future.
“His mom and I have each other’s contact [details] and plan to make it a regular occasion! We have even talked about setting up a group play date with some of Pine’s other neighborhood friends.”
TikTok users loved the sweet interaction, viewed more than 2.1 million times, as one commenter called it “so cute” and another wrote: “Him squishing his face trying to run past you is taking me out.”
“This is the millennial version of parenting now,” a third commented, as one user agreed it felt like being a child again, with parents asking: “Can my kid play with your kid?”

Arrieta said Pine’s joyously friendly attitude has “even helped acclimate other rescue dogs to being social,” including her own friend’s dog, who was adopted from the same rescue as Pine.
“Pine was the first dog he’d ever played [with],” Arrieta added. “Pine patiently waited for the other rescue dog to be comfortable enough to play, and the rest was history!”
Socializing a dog is hugely important for its development, as it introduces it to different sounds, smells, experiences, animals and humans.
Usually, the most-vital socialization period is the first three months of a puppy’s life; however, it is possible to help older dogs associate new or fearful situations with positive experiences if done slowly and patiently, according to the American Kennel Club.
