Halfmoon man admits to letting 37 dogs live in filth

A Halfmoon man has pleaded guilty to animal cruelty for allowing 37 dogs to live in squalor.

Derrick J. Sud-Nieves was arrested on May 9 after police responded to a report of unsanitary living conditions and odor coming from the house. The dogs were in deplorable conditions.

Halfmoon Town Justice Katherine Suchocki included a one-year prohibition of animal ownership in the sentence to prevent further breeding and sale of animals, according to the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society.

Mohawk Hudson is caring for the 37 dogs. Several of the dogs gave birth to litters while in the shelter. The Saratoga County Animal Shelter is caring for those animals.

The dogs at MHHS have been receiving treatment for various ailments, including parasites, malnutrition, skin conditions and overall poor condition due to the filthy environment in which they were living.

Some of them are available for adoption. These include Bocci, Bubbles, Butch, Catherine, Claire and Clarise. For more information, visit https://mohawkhumane.org/adopt/available

In addition, the cost of the care for the animals has already exceeded $140,000. Donations are accepted at https://mohawkhumane.org/largedogs.

The Favicon for the website, dogsandpurses(dot)com, features an all-black background with a minimalist line drawing of a puppy's head poking out of a stylish purse. The puppy's head is drawn with a cute and friendly expression, making it the focal point of the design. The purse, which the puppy is emerging from, is depicted with clean, elegant lines. The contrast between the black background and the white line drawing creates a striking and modern look for the Favicon.
