The city of Rochester says adoption fees for dogs at the Verona Street Animal Shelter will be half-off next weekend. Adult dog adoption fees will be $25 on Saturday, Dec. 28.
This comes as the city and advocates say the shelter is at it’s limit for capacity.
“What better way to honor the season than by giving your love to a shelter dog,” said Rochester Animal Services Director Staci Papadoplos. “Rochester Animal Services continues to see its dog population at the top of its capacity and we need as many people as possible to consider these animals as their first option for pet adoption.”
The shelter is open Monday through Sunday from noon to 3:30 p.m. for anyone who wants to visit with adoptable pets. The shelter is closed on Christmas.
Families are asked to bring a collar and leash to transport their new pet home safely.
