Gulf Coast Humane Society received 18 dogs and two kittens from the Live Oak Animal Services, which was hit by Hurricane Debby earlier this week.
According to GCHS, 14 dogs were adults, and four were puppies. The shelter had to evacuate the shelter pets due to standing water in their kennels.
The transport arrived Tuesday evening.
One of the transporters with Furry Friends Hope on Wheels, which transported the shelter dogs, said two black kittens hung out on the shelter grounds with the dogs.
When they were loading up the shelter dogs, the two kittens jumped on the bus, so it was decided to bring them along.
