GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KSNB) – The Grand Island Kennel Club closed out the final day of their 2025 AKC All Breed Dog Show, Obedience & Rally Trials on Sunday.
The show was held at Pinnacle Bank Expo Center as three-day event featuring 416 entries from around the United States.
Carolina Buettner, show chair of Grand Island Kennel Club, said people come near and far including the judges to participant in the show.
“They fly all over the country on weekends to ensure they’re grading the proper dogs,” said Buettner. ”It’s really no money aspect involved in this. This is for their points to finish championship or grand championship then once they do that they can go to different levels.“
The levels are bronze, silver, gold and platinum, Buettner explained.
Brenda Piper, Fast Cat show chair and treasure of the Grand Island Kennel Club the show features 100-yard dash event.
“It’s a fairly new sport,” said Piper. “It’s something that dog will just love and get out and run.“
Piper said the dogs compete against the clock. They are first released by a show official, then owners catch them at the end.
“All types of dogs can run as long,” Piper said “As you have a registration of all American, so mix breeds can run – all kinds of dogs.“
Buettner said she appreciates all the support from the community, sponsors, and all the entries of this year’s show.
“We’d like to see it grow to about 800 to 1,000,” Buettner said. “With such a beautiful venue here we have so much room. So we’d like to it grow.“
The show is expected to return next year at Fonner Park.
