Golden Retriever Puppy Meets Another Dog for First Time and Total Sweetness Ensues

Golden Retriever Puppy Meets Another Dog for First Time and Total Sweetness Ensues originally appeared on Parade Pets.

Part of the joy of raising a puppy is seeing them discover the world around them. Every new sight, scent, and sound brings out a pup’s insatiable curiosity, and their responses to all the unfamiliar stimuli is beyond adorable.

Modi the Golden Retriever puppy crossed paths with another four-legged fur baby for the first time and his reaction clearly showed his excitement.

In the TikTok from @modi_thegolden, the precious puppy was out on a walk when he came across an Alaskan Husky.

“Oh to be a Golden Retriever meeting another dog for the first time,” the onscreen text explained of the scene.

Although the Husky towered over Modi, the precious pup’s delight at seeing another furry furry friend couldn’t be contained. The littly puppy’s tail never stopped wagging as he circled his canine companion. Naturally, Modi did plenty of sniff testing and touched his new pal with his little paws. He even tried playing with the Husky with a few jumps and nips.

The Husky patiently stood as Modi expended his excitement. Maybe he’s used to this reaction from curious puppies.

There are differing views on whether you should socialize your puppy before they are fully vaccinated. Many veterinarians recommend at least one round of vaccines seven days before socialization and the first round of deworming.

Puppies should start being exposed to new experiences between three and 12 weeks old. Continued socialization is vital for puppies to become familiar with other dogs and new environments. If you wait too long and keep your puppy overly sheltered, they will become fearful. The more you introduce them to new settings and situations, the more safe and secure they will feel as they grow.

Positive reinforcement during this process builds a puppy’s confidence as they explore the world around them. Giving them praise, affection, and treats on each new adventure will help them be more comfortable in a range of settings and situations, and less likely to use aggression due to fear.

Modi seems like he’s on the right track with making new friends!
