GINZA XIAOMA luxury handbag store in Central to reopen on 2nd December after HK$10m heist, no arrests made

1st December 2024 – (Hong Kong) A luxury handbag consignment store in Central was raided by three masked intruders who smashed their way in, resulting in the theft of 66 designer handbags valued at approximately HK$10 million. The GINZA XIAOMA store has temporarily closed as it repairs the damage caused to its glass doors and display cabinets.

Store spokesperson Mr. Chao revealed that an additional seven handbags, worth around HK$700,000, were damaged by shattered glass during the break-in. The store plans to compensate the consignors in accordance with their agreement and is set to reopen on 2nd December. Chao indicated that law enforcement has yet to make any arrests, and the store intends to seek compensation from the relevant parties.

The incident occurred around 7.30am, when the trio, equipped with tools to break the door, accessed the 17th floor of the New World Tower on Queen’s Road. Within three minutes, they had filled three bags with stolen goods and fled the scene in a vehicle. Investigators believe the thieves may have meticulously planned their attack and are currently pursuing leads to identify them, including exploring the possibility of insider knowledge.
