When you’re a dog parent, nothing compares to seeing your furry friend living their very best lives. It’s an even better feeling to know that you’re the one who’s giving them so much freedom and joy! With the unconditional love and loyalty they give us, making sure their needs are met is the least we can do.
Just ask this doting dog dad! He refuses to let anything get in the way of giving his dog, Beetlejuice, the love he deserves, even if he might get crushed in the process. That’s because Beetlejuice is a gigantic Newfoundland! These dogs weigh easily over 100 pounds when fully grown, and Beetlejuice is no exception. Still, he has no idea that lap dogs are usually small! His June 4 cuddles with Dad are stealing hearts all over TikTok, and it’s easy to see why.
OMG–he’s huge! Newfoundland dogs are massive and muscular beneath all that fluff, so this guy weighs just as heavy as he looks. Even so, his dad is all smiles as the gigantic dog flops down on his lap for a cuddle. Just like the proud owner said, “he just wanted some love.”

And his fur brother wasn’t far behind! In the funniest twist, it turns out that the Newfie’s much smaller canine sibling is actually named Dinosaur. The pups’ owners absolutely knew what they were doing when they gave these boys such ironically perfect names. Maybe that’s why ‘Beetle,’ as they call him, thinks he’s a tiny lap dog!
As large dog owners will tell you, though, lap dogs come in all shapes and sizes. One commenter shared, “I have a Saint Bernard who does the same thing. He about flips the chair over.” I can only imagine! If my 70-pound Alaskan Malamute can make the couch rock back and forth by hopping on it mid-zoomies, I can only imagine the damage a truly massive dog could do.
Caring for a Giant Fluffy Dog
It takes a lot of trust and love for a dog like Beetlejuice to be so affectionate with family. True, these dogs are naturally loving, but not every pup likes to cuddle! When they do, however, it’s even more important to keep them clean and healthy.
Several folks commented to praise just how clean the black and white dog is. Would you have guessed that his owners groom him at home? They replied to the comment to share that they clean him “at least every other month,” which is what’s recommended for a thick-coated dog like a Newfoundland. Clearly, the consistent love and care are paying off beautifully. They’re raising such a loving boy!
