Each collected bag will include a discreet tag featuring the Texas Advocacy Project’s Legal Line number, 1-800-37-HOPE, which connects recipients to free legal and social services. Backpacks will be filled with new school supplies for children.
The bags will be distributed to domestic violence shelters, clinics and crisis centers throughout Texas.
The Texas Advocacy Project provides legal services and advocacy for survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault and other forms of abuse. The organization’s hotline offers confidential support and resources to callers across the state.
Community members can drop off donations at the Georgetown Police Department lobby during regular business hours. More information about the program is available at texasadvocacyproject.org/handbags-backpacks-hope.
