Gary’s Best Hot Dogs Officially Listed For Sale

NEW BEDFORD (WBSM) — It’s official: Gary’s Best Hot Dogs, a New Bedford North End staple for over 40 years, is now up for sale.

Back in November of last year, owners Joe and Anita Franco announced their intention to have 2025 be their final year before they head off into retirement.

When Gary’s Best opened for the season on Monday, March 3, the Francos also officially listed the business for sale with E.J. Pontiff Real Estate for $650,000.

“We pray whomever purchases the business and real estate will carry on the Gary’s Best legacy to the next level to the ‘best’ of their ability,” Anita Franco told WBSM. “This is extremely bittersweet. Joe and I will help the new owners transition to an extent, naturally.”

She said they also have at least one employee who is willing to assist the new owners as well.

“She has been a major force with us for years,” Franco said.

According to the listing, the Gary’s Best sale is a chance to “own a piece of New Bedford’s history,” describing it as a “lucrative business (that) has been a staple in the community.”

“The business has a wonderful history and a dedicated customer following,” it reads.

No doubt, those loyal customers will also hope that the new owners will carry on the legacy of Gary’s Best without changing a thing (except maybe taking credit or debit cards).

The Favicon for the website, dogsandpurses(dot)com, features an all-black background with a minimalist line drawing of a puppy's head poking out of a stylish purse. The puppy's head is drawn with a cute and friendly expression, making it the focal point of the design. The purse, which the puppy is emerging from, is depicted with clean, elegant lines. The contrast between the black background and the white line drawing creates a striking and modern look for the Favicon.
