The Stella McCartney Stella Ryder handbag has been shown off by the brand as one of its latest accessories for its Spring/Summer 2025 collection that puts an eco-friendly material in the spotlight.
The purse is crafted from the fungi-based Fy™ from Hydefy that’s positioned as high-performance material that’s inherently cruelty-free thanks to its plant-based composition. The material is achieved through a proprietary fermentation process and is crafted with fungi along with sugarcane waste to make it a sustainable alternative to leather. The handbag itself features a structured form and a finish that looks and feels like leather, despite its plant-based material.
Stella McCartney herself commented on the use of Hydefy Fy™ for the Stella McCartney Stella Ryder handbag saying, “I am constantly exploring plant and fungi-based, regenerative alternatives that do not harm animals and heal Mother Earth. Harmonious to this philosophy, the innovators behind Hydefy are developing materials with fresh thinking and a focus on sustainability.”
