A Fulton County woman is facing felony charges after she said noise from a nearby property was bothering her dogs. Sixty-seven-year-old Delores Jones has been charged with a felony count of aggravated assault.
According to the probable cause affidavit, on June 14 Fulton County deputies responded to an incident involving a firearm along Arkansas Highway 289 North. Deputies state Jones went to a nearby residence because the noise was bothering her dogs. She allegedly pointed a firearm at several people including children.
Witnesses state they were having a birthday party when Jones pulled up and parked next to a tree. One witness says they saw Jones hold something up and began to hear clicking noises. After a few more clicking sounds, they were able to identify Jones had allegedly began pulling the trigger on a firearm repeatedly causing the hammer to strike the firing pin on an empty chamber. Witnesses told law enforcement Jones was aiming in the direction where children would be in the line of fire.
As Jones was confronted by witnesses, she sped off, nearly hitting one of the children crossing the road to retrieve a four-wheeler.
One witness told authorities she went to ask Jones if something was wrong. She said her husband advised her to take a picture of Jones as she was still in possession of the firearm. As she took the photo, Jones asked the witness if she wanted her to pose and proceeded to allegedly point the firearm at the husband while smiling.
Deputies later discovered the firearm had three live rounds in the magazine.
Jones was booked into the Fulton County Detention Center on a felony count of aggravated assault. She was released on a $10,000 bond.
