Fresno County Sheriff’s Boating Deputies rescue a man and his dog from the Kings River

Boating Deputies with the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office helped a man and his dog who were stranded in the Kings River.

FCSO says around 4:00 PM Saturday a man lost his kayak while floating the Kings River, near Adams and Kings River Road in Parlier.

The man and his dog safely made their way to a downed tree while a friend contacted the Sheriff’s Office.

Two of the FCSO boating deputies responded to his location and picked him and his dog up.

The deputies also helped retrieve his kayak and safely sent him and his pup back downstream.

FCSO would like to note that the dog in this situation was wearing a life jacket and that despite most dogs being skilled swimmers they can become overwhelmed by rivers and lakes.

They also want to remind everyone that life jackets are essential for people to use as well and to stay out of the water if you’re not an experienced swimmer.
