FISHERS — Freshman Jack Whaley smacked a three-run first-inning home run in his first high school plate appearance, and Columbus North held on for a 3-2 win at Hamilton Southeastern in its baseball season opener.

Joey Fry pitched 4.2 scoreless, hitless innings before giving way to Dillon Long. Jayden Adorno came on to pitch a scoreless seventh to earn the save.
Whaley had three of the four hits for the Bull Dogs, going 3 for 4.
