FRANKLIN COUNTY, Pa. (WHP) — The Justice Rescue, a nonprofit animal welfare organization, is raising money for six dogs rescued from “unimaginable” conditions.
The rescue said it was called to a neighboring county to save the dogs, which were found living in “unsanitary, unsafe environments,” and needed immediate medical care and hours of grooming.
“Their coats were so encrusted with hardened feces and urine that razor blades couldn’t even cut through it,” Justice Rescue said in a Facebook post. “Some were emaciated, starved, and suffering from painful, infected teeth, eye pain, skin issues and open wounds.”
The dogs’ owner, who the rescue said is handicapped and struggling with her own health, previously tried to get help from local shelters and was denied.
“The previous owner was dealing with her own incapacitated health but refused to get help for herself until she knew these dogs would be safe,” the rescue said.
Justice Rescue is now accepting donations to help give the dogs a new chance at life.
As of 11 a.m. Thursday, the shelter had raised nearly $2,500.
