
LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) – Lincoln Police helped rescue four dogs from a hot car at Gateway Mall on Sunday.
Police were called around 4:26 p.m. to the west parking lot of the mall, where four dogs were seen inside a locked vehicle. Police attempted to contact the owner of the vehicle, but could not find any contact information.
One of the officers forced entry into the car, which had reached around 99 degrees. On one of the dog collars, officers founds a phone number, which they used to contact the owner.
According to LPD, the dogs had been in the vehicle for around 45 minutes, with the air conditioning not running, and the doors locked.
The owner, a 56-year-old Idaho man, was cited for the incident.
