Four dogs need home immediately after owner dies, house to be sold Friday morning

Some of our four-legged friends are in urgent need of some help. While they’re getting assistance from a local facility, it’s an all hands on deck situation.

Four senior German Shepherd need a new home immediately.

These dogs been living in a vacant house by themselves for the last year after their loving owner passed away. The house went into foreclosure and is set to be sold Friday morning and these animals have to be gone by the time of the closing.

Laura Mitchell is the Owner of Wescott Acres Pet Rescue. She got a call recently about this situation asking if she could step in.

“This is the saddest story I’ve ever heard. It’s heartbreaking and we just want to help,” said Mitchell.

While these dogs have been living here alone, someone would come by to feed them and let them use the bathroom, but they weren’t given the love and attention they need.

But now, the clock is ticking to find them a new place to go.

“The dogs need to get out of the house by 8:30 tomorrow [Friday] morning, so we’re very concerned and hopeful that the dogs get some foster homes or permanent homes through the community,” shared Mitchell.

The four dogs are named Spencer, Stormy, Bailey, and Casey – while all very sweet in nature and get along well with people and other dogs, they have their own unique personalities. Spencer and Stormy are more outgoing, while Bailey and Casey are shy and take more time to warm up to new people.

Denise Wilkinson with Pawmetto Lifeline said that unfortunately, pets are often forgotten when it comes to making future plans, particularly, arranging what where their pets go if they pass away.

“I think a lot of people think their children are going to take their pets and take care of them and often times that just is not the case and the dogs or cats are left behind in the home and people are trying to come over and feed them and take care of them and a lot of times they don’t have a good outcome.

If you’d like to help these four dogs find a new home, you can call Pawmetto Lifeline during office hours at (803) 465-9150. If it is after hours, you can call Denise Wilkinson directly at (803) 606-4149/

The Favicon for the website, dogsandpurses(dot)com, features an all-black background with a minimalist line drawing of a puppy's head poking out of a stylish purse. The puppy's head is drawn with a cute and friendly expression, making it the focal point of the design. The purse, which the puppy is emerging from, is depicted with clean, elegant lines. The contrast between the black background and the white line drawing creates a striking and modern look for the Favicon.
