MCNAIRY COUNTY, Tenn. – A former Tennessee deputy was charged after the shooting death of seven dogs after responding to an animal wellness concern, according to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI).
The TBI said that 24-year-old McNairy County Sheriff’s Department Deputy Connor Brackin responded to an animal wellness concern call in Bethel Springs on November 4. While checking on the condition of the dogs, the deputy released one to the complainant, the TBI said.

The deputy then opened fire, shooting and killing seven dogs on the property, according to the TBI. State investigators said that a motive was immediately unclear.
McNairy County Sheriff Guy Buck told FOX13 that Brackin resigned immediately after shooting the dogs. The former deputy was charged with seven counts of aggravated cruelty to animals and eight counts of reckless endangerment. Brackin turned himself in and was booked in McNairy County Jail, the TBI said.
