NASHVILLE, Tenn.–A former Tennessee deputy has been charged with aggravated cruelty to animals after allegedly shooting and killing seven dogs while on duty.
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) reports the arrest of former McNairy County Sheriff deputy Connor Brackin on the charges which stem from an investigation launched by the TBI at the request of the local District Attorney on November 7.
According to the TBI, on November 4, the former deputy responded to a home in Bethel Springs to check on the condition of dogs for an animal welfare concern call. The TBI says Brackin released one of the dogs but for reasons still under investigation, he opened fire with his duty weapon on seven other dogs on the property, killing them.
Brackin was charged this past Tuesday with seven counts of Aggravated Cruelty to Animals and eight counts of Reckless Endangerment.
