BETHEL SPRINGS, Tenn. (WSMV) – The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has charged a former McNairy County Sheriff’s Department deputy with multiple felonies in connection to the shooting deaths of multiple dogs.
On Nov. 4, the sheriff’s department received an animal welfare concern call. Deputy Connor Brackin responded to a home in the 8300 block of State Route 199 in Bethel Springs to check the condition of the dogs. Deputy Brackin released one of the dogs to the complainant.
The TBI reports that, for reasons under investigation, the deputy allegedly fired his weapon, shooting and killing seven dogs on the property.
The TBI then launched an investigation into the alleged shootings on Nov. 7.
About a week later, on Tuesday, Nov. 12, the TBI obtained warrants charging Brackin with seven counts of aggravated cruelty to animals and eight counts of reckless endangerment. He later turned himself in and was booked into the McNairy County Jail.
