Former Pet of the Day Killed – Twyx’s Story: Rescue Dog Poisoned with Methamphetamine, Rescue Seeks Justice

Ozarks Pet Rescue has handed over an animal abuse case to the Texas County Sheriff’s Office after one of our former “Featured Pets of the Day,” Twyx, tragically died from ingesting methamphetamine wrapped in aluminum foil.

On February 14, Twyx was taken to the veterinarian at 2 p.m. for routine health certificates and rabies vaccinations alongside nine other rescue animals. Later that afternoon, her owner/foster took her home, but by 4:50 p.m., she began experiencing uncontrollable seizures.

Realizing something was horribly wrong, the foster contacted Ozarks Pet Rescue, and they rushed Twyx back to the vet. Dr. Logan at Williams Veterinary Clinic worked tirelessly for six hours, attempting to stop the seizures. X-rays revealed that Twyx had ingested a foreign substance still present in her stomach.

Despite all efforts, Twyx’s seizures never stopped, and her fever spiked to dangerous levels. The veterinary team ultimately recommended euthanasia to prevent further suffering.

On February 15, a necropsy was performed, and the results were far worse than expected. In a public statement, Ozarks Pet Rescue revealed that Twyx died from a methamphetamine overdose. The contents of her stomach included:

  • Aluminum foil containing a cut straw, pills, and traces of meth her body hadn’t yet absorbed.
  • Several rocks suggest possible prior abuse or neglect.

Ozarks Pet Rescue immediately contacted the Texas County Sheriff’s Office, which is now collecting all evidence from Williams Veterinary Clinic. The case will be sent to the prosecutor with the hopes of charging a suspect with felony animal neglect and abuse resulting in death.

How You Can Help

In their heartbreaking statement, Ozarks Pet Rescue also shared that Twyx’s veterinary bill remains unpaid, totaling approximately $1,500. They are seeking donations to help cover the cost.

To contribute, please contact Williams Veterinary Clinic at (417) 926-3252.

“Williams does so much and goes above and beyond to help our rescue animals in emergencies,” Ozarks Pet Rescue wrote. “Any help is deeply appreciated!”

The puppy's head is drawn with a cute and friendly expression, making it the focal point of the design. The purse, which the puppy is emerging from, is depicted with clean, elegant lines. The contrast between the black background and the white line drawing creates a striking and modern look for the Favicon.
