The TBI said for reasons under investigation, Connor Brackin shot and killed seven dogs while responding to a call about the welfare of the dogs.
MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation said a former McNairy County Sheriff’s deputy is facing felony charges for shooting and killing seven dogs during a call about animal welfare concerns.
The TBI said it was called in to investigate at the request of District Attorney General Mark Davidson.
Investigators said on Nov. 4, 2024, Deputy Connor Brackin responded to an animal welfare concern call in the 8300 block of SR 199 in Bethel Springs, Tennessee. The TBI agents said Brackin was there to check the condition of the dogs.
The TBI said Brackin released one of the dogs to the person who called, but for reasons under investigation, he shot and killed seven dogs on the property.
Brackin is charged with seven counts of aggravated cruelty to animals and eight counts of reckless endangerment. The TBI said Brackin turned himself in and was booked into the McNairy County Jail.
