More than 80 dogs rescued from a puppy mill in Florence could soon be up for adoption after the owner entered a settlement agreement.
Teresa Gay Counce, 71, has agreed to relinquish the dogs and to searches of her property without warrants.
Counce was arrested and charged with 82 counts of cruelty to animals in January.
The Florence-Lauderdale Animal Shelter has been housing the dogs since they were considered “live evidence.”
The shelter will now be able to put the dogs up for adoption.
The criminal charges against Counce will be dismissed as part of the settlement.
