GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) – Firefighters saved several dogs after a Southwest Gainesville home’s kitchen caught on fire Wednesday afternoon.
Alachua County Fire Rescue crews say a fire was reported at a home on Southwest 47th Lane in Gainesville around 12:30 p.m.

When firefighters arrived, they found the homeowner frantically trying to save her pets as smoke poured from the roofline.
Crews split into two teams: one to knock down the fire, the second to reach the home.
Firefighters found three unconscious dogs inside the home. They were able to successfully resuscitate the dogs.
A fourth missing dog and two missing cats were later found outside, unharmed.

Crews container the fire to the kitchen, however, the structure was damaged by heavy smoke.
