Firefighters rescue two dogs from apartment fire in Falls Church

The cause of the fire is not yet known.

FALLS CHURCH, Va. — Two dogs were rescued from an apartment fire in Falls Church on Wednesday afternoon thanks to firefighters with Fairfax County Fire and Rescue.

The fire broke out in a garden-style apartment building in the 7300 block of Lee Highway.

Crews responded promptly to the building, finding flames visible from a lower-level unit.

Fairfax County Fire and Rescue shared that their firefighters helped evacuate multiple residents while simultaneously working to bring the blaze under control. Among the rescues were two dogs, who were carried out of the building to safety.

No injuries were reported as a result of the fire.

Investigators remain on-site to determine the cause of the blaze.

The total number of affected apartments and displaced residents is still being assessed. Officials continue to provide support to those impacted.
