Firefighter injured, two dog die in Hermon house fire

HERMON, Maine (WABI) – Eight departments responded to a fire in Hermon Wednesday.

The call to the home at the end of George Road came in around 11:30 a.m.

Flames weren’t showing outside, and they say the fire was mostly contained to the kitchen.

Officials say a firefighter suffered a minor injury battling the blaze and was taken to a nearby hospital.

Hermon’s Fire Chief also tells us two dogs died in the fire.

“There was some moderate to heavy fire damage in the kitchen area of the home with heat and smoke damage throughout rest of the residence. It was a large response. We upgraded it to a second alarm when Penobscot Regional Communications Center provided us with additional details that it was a confirmed working building fire,” said Hermon’s Fire Chief, Cody Sullivan.

While the home is not a total loss, we’re told it is uninhabitable as of now.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

The Favicon for the website, dogsandpurses(dot)com, features an all-black background with a minimalist line drawing of a puppy's head poking out of a stylish purse. The puppy's head is drawn with a cute and friendly expression, making it the focal point of the design. The purse, which the puppy is emerging from, is depicted with clean, elegant lines. The contrast between the black background and the white line drawing creates a striking and modern look for the Favicon.
