CINCINNATI (WKRC) – A fire erupted in a kitchen at a residential duplex Sunday afternoon, displacing four people and two dogs, according to District 3 Fire Chief. The blaze caused an estimated $125,000 in damage.
The fire, which began on the back side of the building on North Edgewood Avenue, quickly spread into the walls and attic at 4:14 p.m. Responding fire companies launched an aggressive interior attack to contain the flames.
Despite the presence of operating smoke detectors, the fire advanced rapidly, requiring extensive truck operations to expose and extinguish the flames. Both sets of occupants have been displaced and were receiving assistance from the Red Cross. No injuries were reported.
The residence will require major renovations, said the fire chief. Fire investigators were on the scene to determine the cause of the fire, which remained undetermined.
