LEONI TWP, Mich. (WILX) – A home in Leoni Township suffered serious damage after a fire. The blaze would also tragically kill four dogs.
The fire was first reported by an off-duty firefighter sometime on April 2.
The firefighter lived nearby and saw flames coming from the home’s east side.
Crews would arrive to find heavy smoke and fire consuming the ground level of the home.
The fire took several hours to contain. No one was home at the time, but four dogs would lose their lives.
Officials believe the fire was started in the kitchen and had been burning for hours before being reported. No humans were hurt.
The home sustained extensive damage, as flames spread throughout most of the building.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
