Holy Trinity’s Coney Island Day is noon-1:30 p.m. June 15 at the church, 198 N. Macy St.
FOND DU LAC – Two annual Father’s Day events are back in Fond du Lac this year.
Classic activities for the summer holiday include cookouts and car shows, and Holy Trinity Church and Fond du Lac Evening Optimists, respectively, have you covered.
Here’s what’s going on for Father’s Day June 15.
Steve’s Coney Island hot dogs at Holy Trinity
Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 198 N. Macy St., will host Coney Island Day from noon to 1:30 p.m. June 15.
Coney Island hot dogs were a popular staple at Phillips Cafe, run by Steve and Virginia Phillips on Main Street from 1946 to 1982. Julie Phillips will recreate her father’s recipe, topping hot dogs with mustard, onions and special chili sauce.
Root beer floats will also be available. Proceeds, including a free-will offering, will benefit the church.
Car and truck show at the fairgrounds
Fond du Lac Evening Optimists’ 48th annual Father’s Day Car & Truck Show will run from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. June 15, inviting the community to check out the cars and grab a burger, brat and more at the Fond du Lac County Fairgrounds, 520 Fond du Lac Ave.
Participant judging will take place during the event, and awards announced at 2 p.m., with trophies for the first three places.
