Fairfax resident, firefighters rescue dogs stranded on thin ice

FAIRFAX, Iowa (KCRG) – A Fairfax resident and first responders rescued two dogs who had gotten loose and managed to become stranded on thin ice on Tuesday.

First responders were called to the 400 block of Quarry Drive at around noon for a report about the dogs.

A homeowner in the area jumped into shallow water, where she was able to rescue one of the dogs that had broken through the ice.

The owner of the dogs was on the shore, attempting to prevent the second dog from wandering near the thinner ice.

First responders said the second dog, named Jax, a Husky Boxer cross, was stranded on thicker ice, unable to reach the quarry wall.

Fairfax firefighters wearing cold water rescue kit swam out to rescue the dog.

First responders said Jax’s owner called the dog an “accomplished escape artist.” She also said she plans to work on the dogs’ enclosure, so this won’t happen again.

The Favicon for the website, dogsandpurses(dot)com, features an all-black background with a minimalist line drawing of a puppy's head poking out of a stylish purse. The puppy's head is drawn with a cute and friendly expression, making it the focal point of the design. The purse, which the puppy is emerging from, is depicted with clean, elegant lines. The contrast between the black background and the white line drawing creates a striking and modern look for the Favicon.
