A recent Facebook post about three animals found in the streets of Ohio showed the reality of what they go through whether lost or abandoned.
The Brown County Humane Society recently shared a photo of three dogs found outside in a November 16 Facebook post. This “bonded and scared” trio huddled together against a garage in the picture. The larger of the three rested in front while the other two used the dog as a shield. Their faces said it all—they felt helpless.
Part of the caption reads: “This picture shows us exactly how your dogs feel when they are dumped or lost. They wait in the same spot hoping you will come back for them.”
The humane society noted they were unsure whether or not the dogs were abandoned or lost in the Facebook post, but a representative told Newsweek it “looks like they were dumped.” The dogs are now in the humane society’s care currently on a stray hold.
Animal shelters will place dogs brought in as strays or surrender on a “hold” for several days, lasting between three and 10 days depending on the shelter. This hold period gives owners time to find and reclaim their lost pets.
At the Brown County Humane Society, the stray hold timeline lasts three days, which means time is nearing the end of the stray hold for these dogs. Once those three days are up and no one claimed the dogs, they will be put up for adoption.

The Brown County Humane Society worries about how they are going to get these dogs adopted once the time comes. If possible, they would like to keep them together.
“They are all great friends and we are so worried we won’t be able to adopt them out together after everything they have been through,” the humane society representative said.
They’re hopeful the power of social media will connect the dogs to their owners or forever families.
The Facebook post quickly struck a chord with viewers, reaching over 1,100 likes, 1,000 shares and 124 comments as of Tuesday.
“This breaks my heart. Oh, the confusion and helplessness. Thank you God bless you. I pray no one was evil enough to just drop them,” said one user.
Another added: “The fact they have each other is what got them through until you rescued them! Do better people!”
Hopeful for a better outcome, a third person wrote: “Thank you so much BCHS for the work you do!!! Praying someone can take all 3 of these babies and give them a nice home.”
