WILLIAMSTOWN — About a half a dozen canines got a chance to ride on a school bus and enjoy a short, leashed walk at The Spruces Community Park in Williamstown, July 26. The trip was the maiden voyage for dogs in the care of the Greylock Canine Club at 1099 New Ashford Road.

The club, which was founded by Charlene Lambert in 2014, was purchased by Peter Umbrianna in 2023. The facility is licensed for 45 dogs and 15 overnight boarders and he hopes to apply to the town to expand, as enrollment grows. With 17 acres of land, they have a lot of open play space and would like to be able to accommodate at least 65 dogs and hire more staff.

The Greylock Canine Club’s new Bow Wow Bus took its first trip on Friday, July 26.
Umbrianna refurbished an old school bus, which he is calling the Bow Wow Bus. The small bus has about a half a dozen seats that can seat about as many dogs and more. Wearing harnesses, the dogs are strapped into the seats for safety. Employees drive the bus and sit with the dogs as they ride to their adventure destination.

The Bow Wow Bus will begin pickup and delivery service, within a 12-mile radius of the facility, beginning the week after Labor Day. For those outside of that radius they are working on a “common” meeting spot within the radius where people can drop off their dogs for pickup.

Other plans for this year include luxury overnight “suites” that will have TVs, extra comfy beds, mood music and more, starting with two units and the ability to grow to 10.

At the beginning of 2025 they will have full certified dog training and training classes, both public and private.
