Erie police are looking for a dog and its owner after some children were injured by the animal in an eastside neighborhood late Wednesday afternoon.
The incident was reported on Wednesday at 5:02 p.m. in the 400 block of East 20th Street, according to Erie County 911.
Three of the four children confronted by the dog had what city police Animal Enforcement Officer Gary Rictor said were lacerations believed to have been inflicted when the dog jumped up on them. The children had no puncture wounds or apparent bite marks, Rictor said.
The three children, who Rictor said appeared to range in age from 2 to 6, were taken by EmergyCare to the hospital for treatment.
The dog ran off after the incident, and Rictor said he searched the area but was unable to find it. Someone snapped a photo of the dog, which appears to be a white pit bull, he said.
Rictor said he was told the children were outside playing on their side of their apartment complex when the dog came from the other side of the complex. He said he would like to find out whose dog it is, and asked anyone with information to call him at 814-870-1136.
