Late spring is one of the most beautiful times of the year. Flowers are blooming, school is almost out, and baby animals are discovering the world. TikTok is chock-full of adorable baby deer videos from every corner of the country, including this heartwarming May 29 video from dog mom Miranda.
Only the day before she posted the first viral video, Miranda and her pup, a pure-white Pit Bull, noticed a small fawn waiting for Mom in their yard. It’s common for mama deer to leave their babies somewhere safe while they search for food, but the empathetic Pit Bull quickly realized that something wasn’t right.

The protective pup refused to leave the fawn’s side, which became a big comfort as the baby waited anxiously for Mom to return.
Could these two be any cuter? The tiny fawn seems so comfortable with its new pal, even sniffing, kissing, and cuddling up together. What a brave little baby!
Many viewers praised the Pit Bull’s loving nature and nurturing instinct, but it quickly became clear that the fawn needed more than cuddles. As Miranda explained in the video’s description, it had already been over 30 hours since the mama deer dropped off her little one.

“Ears are curled back, you might need to contact a wildlife rehabilitator,” suggested a commenter named Stormy. “Don’t think Momma is coming back.” As heartbreaking as it may be to see an orphaned animal, the most important thing is that this baby deer has help.
Miranda ended up taking in the tiny orphan, which means the baby deer will get all the food, water, and shelter it needs to thrive. Even though her dog was the one who found the baby, he’s been a very good boy about sleeping separately from the deer at night.

This baby deer’s life has been off to a rocky start, but with friends like Miranda and her pup on its side, things are looking up!
