GASTONIA, N.C. (WBTV) – A duo was arrested after police seized 20 “severely malnourished” dogs from a house in Gaston County last month.
Police said Terry Mitchell Jr., 40, and Felomena Mosher, 48, were apprehended on Thursday, April 24, at a home along North Ransom Street near West Sycamore Avenue in Gastonia.
Mitchell, the owner of five of the dogs, was placed in jail under no bond and charged with five counts of animal cruelty and dog fighting. Mosher, the owner of the other 15 dogs, was placed in jail under a $100,000 bond and charged with one count of aiding/abetting cruelty to animals and eight counts of animal cruelty.

Officers said they initially responded to the residence on April 1, and when they arrived, they found several dogs chained up. The animals were reportedly underweight, without water, and on excessive chains.
Due to the dogs’ condition, detectives continued the investigation.
Three weeks later, police arrested Mitchell and Mosher and took all 20 dogs, as they were “severely malnourished and in need of medical care due to the living conditions.”
