Dunn County Humane Society hosts Walk for Paws event for domestic violence awareness

MENOMONIE, Wis. (WEAU) – October is domestic violence awareness month. The Dunn County Humane Society has partnered up with The Bridge to Hope for their annual Walk for Paws event in order to raise funds and awareness for the domestic violence experienced by both people and pets alike.

The annual event has changed every year from the distance of the walk itself to the activates pet owners can participate in with their furry friends, but the goal of bringing attention to domestic violence has remained the same.

The humane society’s partnership with The Bridge to Hope is a first for the event. The shelter manager of the Dunn County Humane Society, Harvey Weidman, said the decision was based on both organizations daily work with domestic violence victims.

“Those of us who work there are encountering domestic violence on a regular basis,” Weidman stated. “We are seeing the victims and the survivors of that and unfortunately violence affects everyone in the home including pets. Sometimes pets are actually the first victims in the home and often the ones that are forgotten.”

The Dunn County Humane Society hopes that its partnership with The Bridge to Hope will continue to grow and that next year’s Walk for Paws event will be bigger and better than the last.

The Favicon for the website, dogsandpurses(dot)com, features an all-black background with a minimalist line drawing of a puppy's head poking out of a stylish purse. The puppy's head is drawn with a cute and friendly expression, making it the focal point of the design. The purse, which the puppy is emerging from, is depicted with clean, elegant lines. The contrast between the black background and the white line drawing creates a striking and modern look for the Favicon.
