{The Petco Love Florida MEGA Adoption Event}
Broward County Animal Care and Broward County Parks and Recreation are teaming up with Petco Love and several local animal welfare groups for a major pet adoption event aimed at finding homes for 2,000 dogs and cats across Florida.
The Petco Love Florida MEGA Adoption Event takes place Saturday, June 28, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Tree Tops Park, located at 3900 SW 100th Avenue in Davie.
Sixty dogs will be available for adoption from Broward County Animal Care, Miami-Dade County Animal Services, the Humane Society of Broward County, and the Humane Society of Miami Gardens.
Adoption fees are waived during the event, although Broward County residents must pay a $25 registration fee for microchipped pets and $55 for those without microchips. All pets will be spayed or neutered and up to date on vaccinations. The park’s regular weekend gate fee of $3 per vehicle will be in effect.

The 2025 event includes nearly 50 organizations across 31 counties throughout the state. Last year’s event resulted in 1,949 adoptions. This year, organizers hope to surpass that number.
“Parks and dogs have a lot of benefits in common,” said Dan West, Broward County Parks and Recreation Director. “Pets and parks reduce stress and anxiety and encourage an active, healthy lifestyle that includes social interaction among dog lovers and owners, building a sense of community.”
He hopes that after their adoption, residents and their new pet will visit Tree Tops Park or one of their other regional parks that allow dogs on six-foot leashes or to their leash-free dog parks at Markham Park in Sunrise and Quiet Waters in Deerfield Beach.
The Humane Society of Broward County is also bringing 15 adoptable dogs to the event.

The event supports a shared goal of finding loving homes for 2,000 pets.
