Dozens of dogs, reptiles, prairie dogs rescued from Clay County home

MIDDLEBURG, Fla. (WCJB) – Officials with Clay County Animal Services say they rescued more than three dozen animals from a home Wednesday morning.

Animal control officers say 25 dogs, two prairie dogs, and 10 reptiles were taken from the Middleburg home after Jacksonville authorities found the animals in poor condition.

Investigators say the owner brought multiple dead dogs to be cremated leading to the investigation.

No charges have been filed yet. The animals are now being treated.
