The gaze of the political world has turned its sights on Springfield, Ohio of all places.
No, not the township in Summit County. The one near Columbus and Dayton.
“In Springfield, they’re eating the dogs, the people that came in,” former President Donald Trump said during Tuesday’s presidential debate. “They’re eating the cats. They’re eating the pets of the people that live there. This is what’s happening in our country, and it’s a shame.”

Despite those claims, and those made by Trump running mate JD Vance, there doesn’t seem to be any actual evidence of this happening. Multiple claims have been debunked, including one about a woman in Canton (who is neither an immigrant nor Haitian) eating a cat not actually happening in Springfield.
