Dog’s strange eating habit melts hearts: “he is loved”

A dog has captured the internet’s heart with his irresistible dining quirk—he won’t touch his food until he gets a nose kiss.

Bo, the dog next door to Cassidy Barnard (@cassidy_3131), has turned a simple meal into a heartwarming ritual.

In a video that has garnered 1.8 million likes and 8.8 million views, Barnard revealed Bo’s adorable habit: “My neighbor’s dog, Bo, requires a kiss on his nose before eating his food and my heart cannot handle it,” she captioned the viral TikTok.

In the video, Barnard fills Bo’s bowl with kibble, and while Bo begins to sniff the food, he quickly pauses.

Looking up with anticipation, he patiently waits for his affectionate nose kiss. Only after receiving the smooch does he dig into his meal, as if the loving gesture is the secret ingredient to his appetite.

Experts say establishing a consistent feeding routine is important for a dog’s health.

The number of meals a dog needs daily varies by age and breed, but routines help avoid gastrointestinal issues like nausea.

However, research shows that while dogs don’t necessarily interpret kisses the way humans do, many can learn to associate the gesture with positive feelings like love and comfort. For Bo, this routine likely signals affection and security.

TikTok users were quick to fall in love with Bo’s sweet routine.

“Oh he is LOVED,” said Becca.

“The pre-calculated amount of food in the baggies, the raised bowls so he doesn’t have to reach too far, the fact that he was kissed so much it became a routine – that dog is ADORED,” commented one user.

“Not to be dramatic but I would die for this dog,” wrote Nina, echoing the sentiment of many viewers.

One heart-tugging comment came from Megan, who shared: “Our German shepherd comes to us every time he finishes eating to let us know he’s done and to get a ‘good boy’ and kiss on the head.”

The video also touched people who had recently lost beloved pets. “I lost my black lab in August due to a ruptured tumor that we had no idea about. I’m crying. I miss her so much,” another viewer shared, reflecting the deep connection between humans and their furry companions.
